Breakfast of Champions

Cheryl and I decided to eat another big breakfast (it is the most important meal of the day) this morning and Another Broken Egg Cafe is THE place to go. I had a Bananas Foster Waffle. It was so good, it made you want to "slap your mama". Not that I condone slapping your mama. Mamas are good. They are not to be slapped. Some of you may have childhood issues and it might make you feel better to slap your mama. For everyone's sake, resist. Please refrain from slapping your mama.

The wedding is tonight. I'll give a play by play, later.

'Twas the Night Before...

Tomorrow is the big day for Holly and Justin. They will become husband and wife (unless someone stands up and objects) at Henderson Beach State Park in Destin. The festivities begin at 6:30 PM.

Especially significant to me is that Perkins Photography from Jackson, TN will be doing the wedding pictures. John Perkins was the photographer for my daughter's wedding last year and he does a wonderful job. He has a great eye for detail and I know everyone will be pleased with the final results. In no way am I giving this glowing review in an effort to have John credit my account so we can get additional photos from Megan's wedding. That would just be so wrong.

Shut Your Donut Hole

It is beginning to look like all we do on this trip is eat and go to the beach. This is not true. We eat, go to the beach and then eat a couple of more times. That is just how it is done here.

We went to the Donut Hole in Destin this morning and it was yummy. The place is open 24/7 and there was a line when we arrived and left.

I will meet with the bride and groom this afternoon for a brief run-through of tomorrow's ceremony and then we should all be ready to "git-er-done". Stay tuned for more details ... after my next meal.

More Good Eatin'

Tonight we went to the Old Bay Steamer and it was, as one of the kids used to say, "lalicious". We had the royal red shrimp (served with corn on the cob, new potatoes and a great salad) and topped things off with a slice of key lime pie. Cheryl said she just wanted a bite. Cheryl is a liar.

Rash Decision Made

Cheryl had a rash on her arm when we started our trip and it got progressively worse. This morning when she woke up it looked pretty fierce, so we went to a local Convenient Care. She got a shot and a prescription for something to help with the itching. Like the trooper that she is, Cheryl somehow found the will to make it down to the beach after lunch. One of the side effects of the medicine is that it "can cause drowsiness". I hope I don't find her face down on the beach looking like a lobster!

We're Here

After driving all day, Cheryl and I arrived safely at Fort Walton Beach around 5 o'clock. We checked in at the Emerald Coast Inn & Suites and then went out for seafood at The Crab Trap. I had the Captain's Platter which included every fried food known to man, and Cheryl had a blackened shrimp dish that would make you cry... it was HOT.

Monday's Destin-ation

Cheryl and I will head out in the morning for Destin, Florida. We are looking forward to a few days of "R and R" and I will be performing a wedding (yes, another wedding) there. Holly Walters and Justin Brown are plunging into new waters (pun intended) on the beach Thursday evening.

We will return on Friday because, guess what? We have a wedding on Saturday!
