Oh No .. Mo' Snow!

Well, guess what?

There's snow in them thar hills .. and ditches .. and streets!

Imagine her surprise (and delight) when Cheryl got up yesterday morning to the news that Humboldt City Schools had been cancelled due to "incoming" inclement weather.

That is correct.

Although there was not one flake of the white stuff .. which students and teachers alike are now calling "our temporary ticket to freedom" .. on the ground (or even in the sky), every city/county system "and their brother" had called off school for the day.

Even my alma mater, Union University, which never cancels classes .. cancelled classes (never say never).

Granted, those in the Memphis area had awakened to 5 or 6 inches of surprise snow and from all indications it was headed our way. However, there was little more than an hour or two of flurries and no accumulation.

I was so convinced we were in for the big one, I cancelled our SonShiners rehearsal that would have .. make that .. should have taken place after lunch.

Of course, at 1:30 (our practice time) the streets were completely clear and there was no visible evidence that a flake of snow had ever fallen.

None.

Nada.

However, around 4 o'clock everything changed.

It started snowing to beat the band .. as a former clarinet player I've had my fair share .. and by 5:00 PM the ground and roads were completely covered.

I even had a little trouble pulling up in my own driveway .. ♪♫ slip sliding away ♪♫

This continued for most of the afternoon and well into the evening.

Today, we are blanketed in snow and Cheryl is blanketed .. in the bed, because there is no school today, either.

Do you want to learn how to pray more effectively?

Talk to my wife.

She's evidently quite good at it.
