My Sixth Post of the Month

On This Day in History ...
  • 1454, The Thirteen Years' War begins (Talk about your bad luck!)
  • 1788, The First Fleet arrives at Norfolk Island (Enema, anyone?)
  • 1820, The Missouri Compromise is signed into law (The motto, The Show Me State wins out over Can I See It? Please, Please, Pretty Please?)
  • 1836, Battle of the Alamo (Seems like I was going to say something about that .. I forget)
  • 1840, Baltimore College of Dental Surgery opens the first dental school (A crowning achievement, no doubt)
  • 1899, Bayer registers aspirin as a trademark (that has been a legal nightmare .. and a big headache)
  • 1945, Cologne is captured by American troops (I believe it was either Jade East or High Karate)
  • 1964, Boxing champion, Cassius Clay officially becomes Muhammad Ali (the names Shanika and LaShonté had already been taken)
  • 1981, Walter Cronkite signs off after hosting the CBS Evening News for 19 years (So sad, but ... that's the way it is)
"And the evening and the morning were the sixth day."
