On This Day in History ...
- 1454, The Thirteen Years' War begins (Talk about your bad luck!)

- 1820, The Missouri Compromise is signed into law (The motto, The Show Me State wins out over Can I See It? Please, Please, Pretty Please?)

- 1840, Baltimore College of Dental Surgery opens the first dental school (A crowning achievement, no doubt)
- 1899, Bayer registers aspirin as a trademark (that has been a legal nightmare .. and a big headache)
- 1945, Cologne is captured by American troops (I believe it was either Jade East or High Karate)
- 1964, Boxing champion, Cassius Clay officially becomes Muhammad Ali (the names Shanika and LaShonté had already been taken)
- 1981, Walter Cronkite signs off after hosting the CBS Evening News for 19 years (So sad, but ... that's the way it is)
