If you've been around me for very long, you know I'm an Apple snob (I am particularly fond of Granny Smith .. an elderly woman I know who loves her iMac).
Last night I installed the new OS (that's operating system, mom) from the "Leader" (that's what we enthusiasts call the CEO, Steve Jobs .. Quality is Job(s) 1) and now my MacBook Pro is up to date.
Unlike most of their past systems software, Apple's OS 10.6 (code name, Snow Leopard .. we've gone from Jaguar, to Panther, to Tiger, to Leopard to Snow Leopard .. by comparison, Microsoft's codename for Vista was Longhorn .. the name 'horrific piece of junk' had already been taken with Windows ME .. did I mention I was an Apple snob??) is more of an "under the hood" or "behind the scenes" upgrade.
The byline says it all, "The world's most advanced operating system. Finely tuned."
There are some new features and refinements, but for the most part this upgrade is paving the way for 64-bit compatibility (I don't know all that entails, but if Jobs says I need it .. I must need it .. could someone pass me the Kool-Aid?).
It's sort of like getting new underwear. You are the only one who knows you have it on (well, that's not exactly true .. if you are like many of the young males in today's world .. hello, they sell belts at Wal-Mart).
All I know is my Mac does feel "snappier" and it only cost $24.99 to have the latest and greatest from my favorite computer company.
By the way .. it ain't Dell (again .. snob).
