Last night was the last night of revival services at Antioch Baptist Church and we went out on a good note (Bb .. I believe).
All week I had been giving the congregation a hard time about "dragging out" the songs. It just seemed to me most of their "get up and go" had "got up and gone."
Not last night.
I don't know if the people had taken extra vitamins or if I "leveled the playing field" by eating too much of Ken Luckey's pork tenderloin (delicious .. like everything we had all week) for supper. Whatever the reason, we pretty much started and stopped at the same time.
There was a great spirit among the membership the entire week and you could especially feel God's presence at Wednesday night's service.
Dr. Agee preached a message on "trivial pursuit(s)" in our lives and challenged us with three important questions from scripture.
The most haunting (for me) .. "What will you do with Jesus?"
For the non-Christian, this is where "the rubber meets the road." Accept Him or reject Him. The choice is yours.
For the Christian, it causes us to examine our lives and see if Christ makes a difference in the way "we live, and move, and have our being" (Acts 17:28).
If you are a regular (I suppose this is also true of irregulars) at RevKev's, you know I don't get into the deep theological issues of today. It's because I'm not smart enough to discuss the deep theological issues of today.
Light and frothy without a serious bone in my body .. that's me.
However, deep inside (very, very, very .. deep inside) you will find someone who really does love the Lord and desires to be used in His service.
Most of you have a favorite Bible character. Perhaps it is David or Moses. Maybe it is Joseph or Paul.
Mine is the naked, crazy man of the Gadarenes (who was later healed by Jesus).
It just goes to show you .. God can even use a "nut" to spread His message.
"Now the man out of whom the devils were departed besought him that he might be with him: but Jesus sent him away, saying, Return to thine own house, and shew how great things God hath done unto thee. And he went his way, and published throughout the whole city how great things Jesus had done unto him."
- Luke 8:38 -39a
