After seeing "Fireproof," each couple was given a book called, "The Love Dare" ("The Love Double-Dog Dare" was just a little too intense for my taste). It is a forty day guide based on the journal Kirk Cameron received in the movie. You are to read a chapter a day and follow the instructions. The end result should be a better understanding of your mate and a better marriage.
On the first day, the assignment was to refrain from saying anything negative about your mate. Since Cheryl and I worked all day and had different evening obligations, this was a piece of cake (only three points a slice .. this is an inside joke .. go inside and you will get it). When you are not around each other, you won't say anything stupid to each other.
Day two involved doing something unexpected. In retrospect, throwing Cheryl down on the ground and kicking her, was not the best choice. However, in my defense, she never saw it coming. Now that's what I call unexpected (if your spouse won't talk to you, does that count as not saying anything negative? .. see day one).
On day three you are supposed to buy a gift .. something your mate needed. Ace bandages are not that romantic, but she sure needed them .. after her unfortunate spill on day two.
As of this writing, I have not read day four. I can only hope it doesn't involve any type of firearm or explosive device.
However, if it does ...
